Innovation and sustainability today

At Ilerdagua, innovation is the engine of our work. In 2018, we started an ambitious research and development project to design an exclusive filtration system for the fruit industry.

This system allows to reuse the water from the fruit harvesting basins continuously for weeks, even months, achieving a zero discharge in the process. Its development has represented a significant technical challenge, but our experience of more than 15 years in the African continent, facing different difficulties in water management, has allowed us to overcome every obstacle.

Today, this compact and efficient system is a reality and is already in operation in many fruit plants throughout the country, helping to optimize water resources and reduce the environmental impact of the industry.

How does it work?

Water collection

The waste water, loaded with soil residues, organic matter and chemical residues, is pumped from the waste water tank by means of a submerged pump. This first step ensures a constant flow to the treatment system.

Conditioning and separation of solids

Before filtration, the water passes through a decanting system that separates the larger and heavier particles, reducing the flow of impurities and improving the efficiency of the process.

Advanced filtration

The core of the system is the Ilerdagua filter, specially designed for the fruit industry. It performs an automatic double filtration that removes sediments and suspended particles, keeping the water in perfect conditions for its reuse.

Disinfection

To guarantee microbiological safety, the treated water receives a precise dosage of disinfectant oxidant, the concentration of which is monitored in real time. This prevents the proliferation of fungi and bacteria, ensuring a hygienic environment without the need for excess chemicals.

Recirculation and water reuse

Once treated, the water returns to the rendering tank, ready to be reused in the process without the need for additional pumping. This allows a drastic reduction in water consumption and a more efficient operation.

Waste management and maintenance

The system also manages the solid wastes separated during the process, by packaging them in a tank where they are dehydrated for controlled disposal. This minimizes liquid waste and facilitates its sustainable management.
